People who qualify as low-income households can apply for exemption from housing tax

Some people said that the price of goods continued to rise and life became more and more difficult. They asked if the house where they lived with their children could pay less house tax.

The Local Taxation Bureau of Taoyuan City Government stated that in order to take into account the real needs of the people’s lives and reduce the tax burden, if people qualify as low-income households, the houses they own and are used for living are exempt from house tax. The tax bureau checks the data of low-income households in the city every year and proactively approves exemptions to reduce the burden of applications for the public.

The bureau further clarified that the low-income household qualifications are approved by the county and city government where your household registration is located. If your household registration is not located in Taoyuan City, you can submit relevant supporting documents and apply to the tax bureau for housing tax exemption.
